I am blown away by the innovative ideas that social media have sparked. I guess you would agree with me that SEO and SMM have become so intertwined and inseparable.
Guess what? List building also joined the club as many businesses are leveraging social media for growing their lists. Some of them do that through their blogs, Facebook Pages, or both. Here is another very intelligent technique…
Can List Building and Facebook Marketing Merge Beautifully? You bet! Let “ContentProfessor” Show You How…
ContentProfessor, an article spinning software site, offers a FREE training guide to people who optin to their list as shown below.

So far, I shared nothing new. Offering a Freebie in exchange for list subscribing is a classic list building technique. But after subscribers sign in, they get the following message:

Clicking on the link directs them to ContentProfessor Facebook Page that users must like in order to receive the SAME freebie. I love it!

Once they click the like button, they finally can enjoy their free tutorial by clicking on the link below.

This intelligent scenario happens if users access the ContentProfessor web site first.
But if users found ContentProfessor page on Facebook first, they grab the freebie in exchange for liking the page WITHOUT needing to join the mailing list. That’s what I would have done differently: I would still require user subscription from within the Facebook page after liking it as a condition to receiving the freebie.
Including opt-in forms in Facebook pages is becoming increasingly popular for obvious reasons. Here is an example – QuitThatJob has their opt-in form in the welcome tab of their Facebook page as shown below.

I love the whole two-birds-with-one-stone marketing approach. What do you think?
